| Lake St Clair Musky Fishing and Casting Lake St Clair is world famous for its musky fishing and one of the most exciting ways to fish for muskie is by casting. There is nothing in the waters of North America that causes more of an adrenalin rush than a 50” musky following your bucktail spinner up to the boat and making a ferocious strike only a few feet away from where you are standing. Lake St Clair muskie are mainly fished for by trolling, but each year more and more anglers are switching to casting as a much more exciting, sporting, and adventurous way of catching the fish of a lifetime! With casting it is up close and personal and you really have a great opportunity to see and feel the fish fight and have an experience you will never forget. This is the style of muskie fishing that legendary guide Muskie Bob Brunner made famous on Lake St Clair. Located just outside Detroit Michigan, Lake St Clair is quickly gaining a reputation as the best place in North America to hook into a trophy muskie. Some estimates report that there are over 50,000 muskie over 30” in Lake St Clair and that there are more musky here per square mile than any other lake! You can expect fish ranging between 40-48” with many fish caught each year well over 50”. The most productive methods for casting for musky are finding key areas that have a concentration of muskie such as weed beds and drop offs. Casting large bucktail spinners and crankbaits are the most productive. Another method that has been used for many years in other areas that is now catching on in Lake St Clair is jigging. By using large bait fish type jigs for big musky in the St Clair and Detroit Rivers. |
